• Can the DN4 be exposed to the internet?

  The DN4 is fine to be exposed to the internet. We’ve employed several security measures including self signed TLS certificates (which, paradoxically, is why you get a security warning when first connecting to a DN4). One of the advantages to installers is the ease of which the DN4 can be configured with a static address and port forwarded for remote management. Obviously the caveat here is that keeping up to date is recommended and nothing is invulnerable but we consider the digital aspect of device security just as important as the physical aspect.

• Can the DN4 be directly connected to from a laptop or PC?

  The DN4 should be able to be directly accessed via a cable from a laptop or PC. You can use the https://(serial here).local format to get access to the app. Please note that when using direct connect you should not attempt to use static IP addressing.
